Melaleuca is positioned to grow even more rapidly in upcoming years. To keep up with this growth we are looking for an outstanding Associate General Counsel to join our team in Idaho Falls.


The Associate General Counsel will handle a broad range of responsibilities relevant to our business around the world, including legal support for our commercial activities, corporate structure, general contract negotiations and regulatory compliance. The work encompasses structuring transactions, contract enforcement, regulatory and litigation matters and requires solid drafting and confident negotiation skills. This position will work closely with C-Suite, finance and operations personnel at senior levels within the company and subsidiary companies. The Melaleuca environment is fast paced requiring the ability to adapt quickly and perform at a high level. Accordingly, Associate General Counsel must manage multiple projects across several departments and take the initiative to prioritize and complete projects and independently seek guidance from the General Counsel.




  • Work closely with department heads and other team members to structure deals that strike the right balance between achieving business opportunities and mitigating risks. Draft and negotiate contracts to memorialize these deals.


  • Provide advice and assistance to other company departments regarding interpretation of contracts, proposed transactions, risk analysis and policies, etc.


  • Develop legal strategies, and direct and supervise outside counsel on a variety of assigned projects


  • Work on special projects including developing and updating company policies and process improvements in the US and foreign markets


  • Ability to work and interact with corporate management and others at all levels.


  • Support non-litigation projects such as drafting company policies and serving as Legal Department’s designee on various committees.


Desired Skills and Experience


  • JD; Member of at least one state bar and ability to gain admission to Idaho Bar


  • Two-Five years combined experience, with a law firm (Am Law 200 preferred), or in-house legal department (Fortune 500 preferred), as well as corporate law and commercial transactions


  • Prior experience managing legal professionals and outside counsel and experts


  • Summarizes information and analysis effectively and concisely in verbal and written form


  • Ability to independently manage case load and other projects


  • Comfortably leads internal group meetings with peers and department heads


  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


  • Must be able to relocate to Idaho Falls, ID (Relocation Assistance may be available).
